FAQs
Buying from Settle
Is all of your furniture second-hand?+
Almost always, yes. Every piece we sell is pre-owned and carefully selected for its quality, condition and longevity. On occasion we may list a piece that's never been unboxed, so both brand new and pre-owned!
How do you assess the condition of furniture?+
Every item is inspected before it's listed. We provide professional photographs, a detailed description and, where available, a video so you know exactly what to expect.
Are you just acting as a middleman, putting me in touch with another seller?+
No. We own, store and deliver every piece. We meticulously photograph and describe every item ourselves before listing for sale on our website.
Do you offer delivery?+
Yes, within our current service area of South West London.
What types of furniture do you sell?+
At the moment we're focused on garden & outdoor furniture only. We work with quality pieces only: think premium brands and materials like hardwood, rattan and metal.
What if the furniture doesn't fit?+
Please check the dimensions before purchasing. If you're unsure, contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Can I reserve an item?+
Because every piece is unique, we can't usually reserve furniture without payment. Once it's sold, it's gone.
Can I return an item?+
Because we sell individually sourced pre-owned furniture, we don't accept returns simply because you've changed your mind. If you believe we've materially misdescribed an item, please contact us and we'll investigate promptly.
Do your items come with a warranty?+
Unless specifically stated, our furniture isn't sold with an additional warranty. We do, however, stand behind the accuracy of our descriptions.
How should I care for my furniture?+
Care requirements vary depending on the material. If you have any questions, we're always happy to offer advice.
Selling to Settle
What furniture do you buy?+
We focus on high-quality, well-made outdoor & garden furniture in good condition. We're always on the lookout for premium brands and materials like hardwood, metal and rattan. Unfortunately, we can't buy everything that's submitted, but we'll always let you know.
How do I sell my furniture?+
Complete our online form, upload a few photographs and tell us a little about your furniture. We'll send you an offer within 24 hours, and usually much quicker.
Do you buy the furniture from me, or connect me with a buyer?+
We buy it directly from you. No strangers or third parties are involved.
Is getting an offer free?+
Yes. There's no obligation and no cost to request an offer.
How long is my offer valid for?+
Unless we tell you otherwise, offers are normally valid for seven days.
What happens after I accept your offer?+
We'll arrange a convenient collection date. Our collection team will inspect the furniture to confirm it matches the description before completing the purchase.
What if the furniture has more damage than shown in the photos?+
If the furniture differs materially from the information provided, we may honour the original offer, offer a revised price or decide not to purchase it.
When do I get paid?+
Once our collection team has completed their inspection and confirmed the purchase, they'll securely release your payment. You'll receive an email confirming that payment has been released before the team leaves.
Why hasn't the money appeared in my bank account yet?+
Payments usually arrive within minutes, but occasionally banks take longer to process them. Your confirmation email means your payment has been successfully released.
Do I need to dismantle my furniture?+
No. Where reasonably necessary, our team will dismantle furniture during collection. We simply ask that it's accessible and ready to collect.
What if I change my mind?+
No problem. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can rearrange our schedule. Wherever you can, we appreciate at least 72 hours' notice before your collection.
What if I accidentally leave something inside the furniture?+
Please check all drawers, cupboards and storage compartments before we arrive. You're responsible for ensuring personal belongings have been removed before collection.
Do I have to be at home?+
Yes. Someone aged 18 or over must be present during the agreed collection window.
